The scene
Dance Centre · WardrobeThe festival’s principal costume appears with a gold ribbon that nobody was supposed to cut. It was a sample reserved for the exhibition, but someone turned it into a decoration during rehearsal.
Three people each received a gold ribbon. The offcut is left on the table. The records preserve the original length of each allocation; one sum can solve the mystery before the curtain rises.
What we know for certain
One of these people cut their own ribbon once and attached the decoration. The recovered offcut is everything left over. No ribbons were joined, materials stretched or allocations exchanged. The measurements are exact and given in centimetres.
The three accounts
Lía Domènech
Dressmaker«My ribbon had enough spare length for lots of decorations.»
Marc Sol
Dancer«The one I received was two metres long.»
Nadia Valls
Wardrobe assistant«I had the shortest ribbon.»

01The costume’s ribbon
The decoration measures 125 centimetres from end to end. It has no joins, hidden folds or overlapping sections.
02The forgotten offcut
The only remaining offcut measures 75 centimetres. Its cut edge matches the decoration’s.
03The morning allocations
Lía received 240 centimetres; Marc 200; Nadia 180. All three lengths appear on the signed allocation record.
04A single cut
The recording of the worktop shows one straight cut, although it does not identify the hands. No fragment fell to the floor.
05The final check
Nobody returned, lent or received another ribbon during rehearsal. The decoration and the offcut retain their original width.
