YOUR DATA

Your email is private.
Your username is your signature.

You can read and play today’s cases as a guest. An account lets you keep results across devices, play the archive and add friends.

What is stored

Firebase handles authentication, email addresses and passwords. The project stores your ID, username, display name, language and text-size preferences, opened clues, hints, attempts, scores, game dates and friendships. We do not store passwords in game results or show email addresses to other players.

Your browser keeps your session in local storage so you can return. Guests use an anonymous ID; their games can be linked to a new account created in that same browser. A guest session alone cannot be restored on another device.

What your friends see

Players can search for an exact username to send an invitation. Accepted friends can compare scores and streaks. You can remove a friendship from your league. Shared result text includes the case and your result, but not the answer or your email.

Services used

Vercel hosts the website and Google’s Firebase provides authentication and storage. They may process technical information to deliver the site and protect accounts. Read the Vercel privacy policy and the Firebase privacy information.

Contact and deletion

Pol Martinez is responsible for this project. To access, correct or request deletion of your account data, write from your account’s email address to pol@vfields.com. We retain data to provide these features until you request deletion, subject to applicable obligations.

Internal statistics

The owner views aggregate statistics from saved games, such as starts, completions and wins, to improve the game. The dashboard is private. We also save the start and latest activity of visits to understand site usage. A new visit starts after 30 minutes without activity; only the administrator can view registered usernames and dates. Guests and incomplete profiles appear only in totals. The visible history covers up to 90 days; older records are cleared when the account uses the site again. We do not store passwords, IP addresses or locations in this history. We do not add external trackers or ask for age or gender for these statistics.

Profile, favourites and challenges

We save your chosen badge and private favourites to your account. Personal statistics and achievements are calculated from your saved games. Challenges store the two participants, the case, invitation status and dates. Only the participants can see their challenge, and scores are compared once both have finished. Challenges become unavailable when the friendship ends.

Ratings and case comparisons

Each finished game contributes at most once to its case’s aggregate comparison from this feature’s introduction. We display percentages and average hints after at least 10 finished games, never individual results. We save one editable rating per account and case, including enjoyment, perceived difficulty and an optional comment of up to 600 characters. Only the administrator sees private comments and the associated username to review confusing clues; comments are not shown to other players.

Advertising

This version does not show ads. If ads are added, we will update the information and consent choices before enabling them.
