The scene
Awards workshop · After rehearsalDuring the rehearsal for an awards ceremony, the host reads a name that does not match the official record. Someone has replaced the card in the envelope. Fortunately, the doors are still closed.
Three workshop staff worked at coloured tables. The false card was written at one of them. Their statements seem incompatible: test what happens if each person is the culprit.
What we know for certain
There is one culprit and no accomplices. In this puzzle, innocent people tell the truth and the culprit lies. Do not assume this rule applies to other cases. The records and clues are reliable.

01Three workstations
Irene worked at the red table, Mateo at the green table and Vera at the blue table. They did not share workstations or materials.
02A new card
The replacement was written during that shift, at its writer’s table. It did not exist beforehand and did not arrive from outside.
03A single change
The official record retains the correct name. Only the card in the envelope was altered; nobody changed the other documents.
04The rule for statements
Only one statement is false: the statement made by the person who wrote and placed the card. The other two are true.
05No fourth writer
The room was closed to other people. A close-up of hands shows a deliberate swap, but does not identify the person responsible.
