The three people preparing the café had filled different ice trays. Each produced a fixed shape; identifying the culprit requires examining the ice, not guessing how long it took to freeze.
What we know for certain
One of these people put the key in their own ice tray before freezing it. They did not exchange trays, add ice from elsewhere or carve any pieces. Each mould retains its stated shape when the ice is removed.

01The trapped key
The complete piece surrounding the key is a five-pointed star. The photograph was taken before it began to melt.
02Berta's tray
All its compartments are square. It produces cubes, and none of the other trays can fit inside it.
03Yago's tray
All its compartments are five-pointed stars. Yago filled and put away that entire tray.
04Noemí's tray
All its compartments are round and deep. Its ice comes out as cylinders, without points.
05Removing the ice
Whole pieces were removed directly from their moulds. The key was frozen inside a single piece, not attached between several pieces or fastened to the outside.
