A discarded proof carries the same alteration and a tiny mark in its margin. Only three people worked in the print room.
What we know for certain
One of these three people printed and inserted the false copy without help. Each printer was under its user’s exclusive control. Nobody exchanged sheets or used another machine. The marks described are permanent and cannot be added or erased by hand.

01The same document
The proof and the copy in the envelope carry the same name replacement and marginal mark. The original official record has neither.
02Adrián’s machine
With a page positioned for normal reading, Adrián’s printer always leaves a black circle in its top-left corner.
03The other machines
With the text upright, Beatriz’s printer leaves an arrow in the bottom-left corner. Celia’s leaves an arrow in the top-right corner.
04The recovered sheet
As it lies on the table, the proof has an arrow in the bottom-left corner. All its text is upside down, rotated by exactly half a turn.
05A recent print
The proof uses the title approved that afternoon. All three printers left their usual marks throughout the session.
